Liquid Lipstick Review
Un blog de Makeitup - The Agency

During my recent stay in San Francisco, there was no way to not get intrigued by the rainbow-coloured lippies! Whereas on old Europe, people are very attached to their bullet shaped traditional lipsticks - including myself - in the States, the matt liquid lipstick formulas seem to have conquered the entire beauty market! I I have to admit: I could not resist to try them out myself!
Liquid lipsticks are a worry-free way to wear extreme and unusual colours. Most of them are extremely long-wearing and won’t come off until you remove them with oil or eat oily food - no risk to get colour on your teeth, no bleeding of the colour in the fine lines around the mouth. But there are some substantial differences in the formulas, the colours, the wear comfort and the lasting power depending on the different brands. I tested relentlessly tested a huge variety of brands and would now like to share with you my favourites:
Tarte Tarteist Lip Paints
Lime Crime Velvetines
Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipsticks
GENERAL APPLICATION TIPPS
Preparation is key: before starting with your make-up, exfoliate lips with a toothbrush or with a mixture of sugar, honey and oil, then apply an intensive lip balm or moisturiser on your lips (ex. Elisabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream), let it sink in while you do your makeup and then, before applying the liquid lipstick, remove the lip balm thoroughly because your lips need to be fat-free before application of the liquid lipsticks to assure their lasting power!
The liquid lipsticks, that go on liquid and dry to a matt, smudge-proof finish (i.e. Lime Crime and Jeffree Star) can be difficult to apply, because you have to perfectly put them on in one go and cannot go over the same spot over and over again to achieve a perfect outline. If you are struggling or feel intimidated by putting on the lipstick perfectly in one swish, you can facilitate the process by first outlining your lips with a lip liner crayon in the matching colour of the lipstick.
Sometimes ingredients can separate over time, so make sure to shake the liquid lipsticks well before each application.
To take them off use oil (ex. coconut oil) to dissolve the colour and afterwards a warm wet cloth to remove it or use a traditional makeup remover for waterproof eye makeup on a cotton pat. Ultimately, when you take them off at the end of the day, your lips will be dry and will need some moisture: so slather on a thick layer of moisturiser or lip balm before going to bed and you will wake up with baby soft lips in the morning.
TARTE TARTEIST LIP PAINTS

price: $ 20.- (for 6 mL / 0.20 Fl. Oz.)
„vegan friendly formula“ as stated on the Tarte website - „vegan“ makeup means that it does not include animal ingredients
creamy mousse-texture with a satin to matt finish, that is comfortable to wear and does not dry out the lips at all
because they do not set or dry completely, they are very easy to apply and can be easily corrected
the applicator allows a very quick and precise application
these lip paints can be layered and easily reapplied during day
they are NOT SMUDGE-PROOF and NOT TRANSFER-RESISTANT!
You can order them directly at https://tartecosmetics.com/ - they do ship internationally and even to Switzerland!
Tarte Tarteist Lip Paint in „yaassss“:

lavender colour
needs two layers
wears off quite quickly and gets patchy
love the shade, flattering, esp. with blue eyes
stains lips in a beautiful pink shade
Tarte Tarteist Lip Paint in „cray-cray“:

beautiful, bright, highly pigmented and wearable orange shade
needs two layers
settles into lip lines
much drier consistency than „yaassss“
leaves a bright red-orange stain
Tarte Tarteist Lip Paint in „frenemy“:

burgundy colour
needs three layers
the patchiest of the three and not completely opaque
settles into lip lines quite quickly
leaves a dark red stain
Although I love the colour, it is almost impossible to get an even coverage and keep it from getting patchy while wearing it and therefore I would NOT RECOMMEND „frenemy“.
LIME CRIME VELVETINES

price: $ 16 - 20.- (for 2.6 mL / 0.088 Fl. Oz.)
Lime Crime guarantees to be 100 % vegan and cruelty-free - „vegan“ makeup means that it does not include animal ingredients or byproducts and „cruelty free“ makeup means that the products are not tested on animals. Lime Crime is approved by both PETA and The Leaping Bunny Program.
smudge-proof and even kiss proof and hence extremely long-lasting
totally matt finish
easy to use and precise applicator
after application, you need to let the lipstick completely dry before you can press your lips together
even when completely dried, lips stay a little sticky, when you press them together
liquid but not too runny consistency
don’t leave any stain on the lips
very even in coverage and do not settle into lip lines
You can order them directly on their website https://www.limecrime.com. They do ship internationally!
Lime Crime Velvetine in „Cement“:
