Do you ever feel like you have absolutely nothing to wear even though your wardrobe is filled to the brim with clothes? You’re not the only one, this is a common theme. Here’s a few ideas on how clean out your wardrobe and organize it in a way so that you will never have this problem again:
Step one:
Ask yourself the following questions:
What does a regular week look like for me? How do I spend my time?
What clothes do I wear on a regular basis?
What would you say are the 5 most important items in your wardrobe?
On what occasions do you say to yourself: “OMG, I have absolutely nothing to wear!”
This will give you an idea of what you actually need.
Step two:
Clean out your wardrobe by going through every item and placing it in one of the following piles:
Keep
Store away
Clean/Fix
Give away
Throw away
Whatever you haven’t worn in the last year should be given away or sold. If it has emotional value to you, you could store it away so that it doesn’t take up valuable space in your wardrobe. Keep the answers from the first exercise in mind when you do this, it will help you make those difficult decisions.
Step three:
Write a priority shopping list with the clothes you would need to complete your wardrobe:
Example:
A pair of well-fitting jeans (that you can wear with those pretty blouses that you already have)
A little black dress (for those dressed up occasions, could be worn with different types jewellery for variety)
A pair of sexy heels (to dress up those jeans)
A cool pair of sneakers (for those walks with the dog)
And so on... you get the idea.
Step four:
Now you know exactly what you need for a functional wardrobe. Keep to the list when you go shopping and you will be alright.
